Q Attorney Profile

Robert G. Wellon is the owner of his own law firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, where he focuses his practice exclusively on family law. Providing astute and compassionate representation to clients throughout the greater metropolitan area, his work primarily consists of assisting people whose marriages are coming to an end and who are thus having to deal with such associated issues as the equitable division of marital assets and debts, alimony, child support, and child custody and visitation.

Having been a litigator since 1974, Mr. Wellon is a forceful courtroom advocate for his divorcing clients when the situation requires it. However, his background in negotiations and mediation often allows him to help his clients come to an accord on some or all of those issues through the use of those alternative dispute resolution methods, thereby avoiding the uncertainty of a lengthy trial. In addition to his divorce practice, Mr. Wellon\'s family law experience has included paternity establishment and disputes, and he regularly reviews and prepares prenuptial and postmarital agreements. He also assists people who have already gone through a divorce and who are now seeking the enforcement of or modifications to existing court orders.

Mr. Wellon\'s excellent track record and high degree of ethics in what are often highly charged cases have led to his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 \"Superb\" peer review rating through Avvo. He majored in political science at Emory University and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1970, and in 1974, he was awarded his Juris Doctor by Stetson University College of Law. Admitted to practice before all Georgia and Florida state courts, Mr. Wellon is a former member of the board of directors of the Atlanta Bar Association.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell® is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ fall into two categories – legal ability and general ethical standards.
