Mr. Howard has also represented clients who have suffered discrimination in the workplace due to age, sex, race or religion.

Recognized for the successful representation of his clients, which includes numerous verdicts and settlements far in excess of $1 million, Mr. Howard was named to the National Trial Lawyers \"Top 100 Trial Lawyers\" and he was named \"Trial Lawyer of the Year\" by the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association in 2006 and 2016 and the California Coast Chapter of ABOTA in 2009, 2010, and 2011. An active participant in numerous professional organizations, Mr. Howard is a member of and has occupied executive positions in the California and Ventura County bar associations as well as the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association. He has also served on the Ventura County Bar Association\'s Judicial Nominations Evaluation Committee and has been a presenter in several Masters in Trial programs put on by the American Board of Trial Advocates.

John was a Lt. Commander in the United States Naval Reserve serving from 1987-1999.  In 1987 John served as President of the Ventura County branch serving the Southern California Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and has coached Varsity Football and Baseball for Villanova Prepatory School from 2003 to 2014.
