James T. Ponton is an attorney and the founder of the Law Office of James T. Ponton, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Ponton has represented insurance companies and their insureds in both first- and third-party actions throughout Atlanta. Throughout his career, he has litigated many cases involving brain injury, motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, wrongful death and other matters involving catastrophic injuries.
Admitted to practice law in Georgia since 2005, Mr. Ponton also appears before federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Ponton is an active member of many professional organizations. Some of the groups he belongs to include the Atlanta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He belongs to various groups and sections of these organizations and is also a member of the American Bar Association. His recovery of substantial verdicts and settlements for his clients has earned him membership in the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys.
Mr. Ponton earned a bachelor’s degree from Loudonville, New York’s Siena College, and attained his law degree from Albany Law School. Before opening his own practice, he worked at private Georgia-based firms as both an insurance defense attorney and a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney, representing Georgia individuals and families who sustained injuries due to negligence.
