Douglas R. Powell

Douglas R. Powell is a co-founder of Hinton & Powell, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Focusing his practice primarily on plaintiff\'s personal injury and wrongful death litigation, he provides representation to people throughout the greater metropolitan area who have suffered economic and noneconomic losses due to the negligence of other persons or entities. The types of cases that Mr. Powell has handled have arisen out of incidents involving truck and other motor vehicle accidents, professional negligence, defective products, animal attacks and premises liability, and he has been able to obtain numerous sizable settlements and jury awards in that regard. As a result, he is a lifetime member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Some of Mr. Powell\'s representative successes have included a $2.1 million settlement in a motor vehicle accident case and a large jury verdict arising out of a premises liability matter. His fellow professionals have taken note of both his excellent track record and his high degree of ethics, and they have awarded him an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 \"Superb\" peer-review rating through Avvo. Admitted to practice before all Georgia and North Carolina state courts, Mr. Powell is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Powell is a graduate of Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1975. His legal education came at Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was active in the school\'s Moot Court Program and was initiated into The Order of Barristers upon his being awarded his Juris Doctor in 1980. His professional affiliations include the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
