Attorney Donn Taketa is a partner at Taketa | Villasenor LLP in Westlake Village, California. Mr. Taketa practices employment law, handling cases involving discrimination, sexual harassment and more. He represents employees and employers throughout Ventura County and the Los Angeles metropolitan area in both individual and class action lawsuits.
Admitted to practice law since 1987, Mr. Taketa has been involved in many significant cases over the course of his career. In 2009, he obtained an $8.5 million court-approved class action settlement in a case involving an employer who failed to pay construction workers for time worked including administrative, setup and travel. The class was made up of more than 3,000 commercial construction installers located in Northern, Central and Southern California.
Mr. Taketa practices in both state and federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, Central and Eastern Districts of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. He earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an Associate and Articles Editor of U.Penn Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Taketa served in a variety of legal roles, including working as counsel in the area of corporate litigation for large private corporations. He also handled commercial litigation matters for a private New York-based firm.
Mr. Taketa is involved in several local organizations including the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Ventura County Bar Association and The State Bar of California. He also belongs to the national organizations the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice.
