Q Attorney Profile

Representing clients in Georgia in all matters of family law, Courtney Carpenter has been with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, for six years and is passionate about getting the results her clients need. A trained guardian ad litem, Ms. Carpenter is focused on the individual goals of every client and discovering the best way to achieve them with as little strain as possible.

Ms. Carpenter first earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in political science, a certification in professional politics and a minor in international affairs, graduating magna cum laude from Kennesaw State University in 2006 before earning a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2010. During her time at Emory, she volunteered for Student Legal Services and was a participant of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society.

A member of the State Bar of Georgia and a former member of the Family Law and Business Law Sections and the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association, Ms. Carpenter is extremely successful at navigating the litigation process. As a research assistant during her time at law school, she developed her legal writing and research skills, which now benefits her clients as she leaves no stone unturned in protecting their best interests.

Ms. Carpenter represents those who are considering divorce and clients who are ready to move forward with the process, along with legal issues related to asset division, alimony, child custody, annulments, adoptions, appeals, family violence and prenuptial agreements. As her clients are often dealing with difficult times when they seek her help, she is passionate about advocating for the things that are important to them.
